Dry Brushing
The next step- after your paint has dried, is to vary the color by dry brushing.  Dry Brushing is a tricky thing to do, as you have to keep things light.  So, I usually shake up a bottle (Floquil Grimy Black) and then take off the lid.

:: Start by lightly dipping the brush in the lid and then blotting most of the paint off on a scrap piece of paper.  Blot until there is hardly any paint left on the brush.

:: Then, lightly brush some color onto your wall section.  You can either lightly swipe the brush over the surface or blot the wall.  You will get different results, so try both ways and see what you like best.  I often do a little of each for variation.

:: Go over most of your wall section and keep varying the darkness of the patches.  The finished wall section is shown at right.  Nothing is too dark, and there is a lot of variation.  At this point things don't look to realistic, but further weathering will pull things together.
